Christmas Shoe Box Outreach

It’s ShoeBox Gift Time!

Pastor Steve Payne (aka: “Pastor Pizza”), Sidewalk Ministries, and Restoration Place Tallahassee are gearing up for the Annual Christmas Shoe Box gift drive.

For some children the gifts they receive, via this annual outreach ministry, are the only Christmas presents they have ever gotten.  Pastor Pizza needs your help again this year to make this event a success.

We are asking everyone to help with this special outreach project.  We need shoe boxes, gifts for the shoe boxes, and volunteers to help us distribute the gifts in our outreach communities of Leon County.

For those wishing to donate one or more shoe box gifts, please make sure you fill them with age and gender appropriate items.  The gifts will be given to boys and girls from age 4 to age 12.  So make sure your box is specific to the age group you wish to minister to with your gift.

Shoe Box Gift Instructions

Get a shoe box (boxes), then wrap the lid and box separately.  Fill the box with NEW toys, games, puzzles, pencils, toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, hair goodies, books, candy, snacks, etc.

Use your imagination and create a shoe box present that will wow a child.  Most of the children who attend the Shoebox outreach are children of single, working moms, or their grandmother is taking care of them.  You can make their Christmas extra special by providing them with a special gift from the heart.

Once your shoe box(es) is/are  filled, place the lid on top and put a rubber band around the box to secure the lid.  Please DO NOT tape the lid.

Make sure you attach one of the age/gender identification tags provided on the Sidewalk Ministries display table inside the Restoration Place sanctuary, so that we will know what age range/gender child to deliver the gift to during distribution.

RETURN your shoebox gifts to Restoration Place by November 25th.

If you are unable to get the gifts to the church by the due date, please contact  Pastor Pizza to make arrangements for pick up.

To see the difference your contribution can make, take a few minutes and watch the video below.

Other Ways To Help

If you simply don’t have time to shop or prepare shoe box gifts, but would still like to help, there are two other ways you can contribute and be a part of this incredible opportunity to touch the life of a child in the Tallahassee area.

Donations

For those wishing to make a financial donation, Pastor Pizza will be happy to go and buy the items for the shoe box gifts, wrap them, and take care of everything for you.   You can place your contribution in the offering during our weekly services, just make sure you mark it “shoe box outreach.”  If donating on-line, please be certain to include a notation (“instructions”) with your donation indicating that the gift is for the “shoe box outreach.”

Distribution Volunteers

We will need a lot of volunteers to help us on our distribution dates.  So, if you can not give monetarily this year, then please consider giving of your time.  Our distribution dates and locations will be as follows:

December 4th -  Orange Avenue

December 11th – Leon Arms Apartments (Holton Street)

December 18th – Joe Louis
